Identity Issues?
Do you feel lost or trapped? Have you been feeling less like yourself and don’t know who you are anymore? Do you wonder if there’s so much more of you that you haven’t discovered?
We all have times in our lives when we start to question who we are, our direction, and our purpose. These questions can pop up randomly or when we experience a major event, life transition, or just in deep rumination. It can feel daunting but it is very natural. Quarter Life Crisis?
You made it! You have a respectable career, long term relationship, amazing social life, and living the fun city life. So what’s the deal, why doesn’t it feel amazing? Why is your head filled with questioning of your career, relationships, direction, and purpose in life? These are supposed to be “the best times of your life.” Maybe you’ll feel better if you push harder for a better job, move to a new exciting city, quit your job to travel the world, or get married and start a family. There are so many options, ideas, questions, and most of all, pressure. But lately, you’re tired, uninspired, and lonely and wondering what’s the point of all of this anyway?
It may seem like you are the only one feeling confused but you’re not. A “quarter life crisis” is actually a common experience now. People in their 20’s and 30’s experience a lot of stress and with that stress comes evaluating their current lifestyle and choices. It’s easy to default to comparing yourself to others or to the feeling that there must “be something better” but this will eventually lead to more panic and confusion. A “quarter life crisis” can be a time of enlightenment, discovery, and clarity. It’s important to explore and reflect on who you are, what you want to do, and how you want to live.
